To Infinity---and Beyond!

Yes the journey to a completed Buzz Lightyear costume has begun. This post should have been titled, "To Crazy and Beyond!"...but seriously don't you LOVE it. I mean L.O.V.E. it.  You should see it on my Oldest Little Man..well you will have to wait...but seriously LOVE it.

The glove sleeves came from my noggin but the hood came from a McCall's costume pattern...which I am too lazy to run downstairs for at the moment, so I let you know in the next Buzz post...yes there probably will be another one, sorry folks!

To top off the sheer delightfulness of the gloves...well are the gloves that go into the sleeves. They are simple dollar bin white stretch gloves...

that with the help of some freezer paper...

and some purple spray paint...

look EXACTLY like Mr. Lightyear's digits. So easy to do.

While these purple tipped fingers are one of my favorite things, my FAVORITE part of these gloves is this---

My Little Buzz can check gamma ray levels and communicate with Star Command in his very own quest to secure the galaxy's safety.

I LOVE THIS.

These came out AWESOME! My oldest was obsessed with Buzz when he was younger. He would have been all about these!

Also, I think I am going to offer a tutorial for the bag I made, so keep an eye out for that in the next week or two so you can make one!

Wow... just wow! You are seriously super mom! These are so darn amazing... Wondering where you buy your felt from? :) Thanks!

Thank you everyone for the love.

As for felt, I have always gotten my felt from JoAnns, off the bolt. Nothing too fancy or too expensive. Plus it seems to go on sale every couple weeks.

I know their color selection might not be as wondrous as an online specialty store, but they have had what I needed so far.

I know that this is an older post, but I was wondering if you have a more detailed tutorial for making the sleeves. I'm not that experienced with making my own patterns, so when I tried this on my own, it was much too small. Do you have a more detailed tutorial or tips on how to work with felt to make the sleeves to fit my 4 year old? Thanks!

Larissa@Just Another Day in Paradise said...

I wish I had done a tutorial. Unfortunately I never did. The best thing I can tell you is to trace out the shape you see, two for each arm. Sew the details on first. Then pin the two pieces for each arm together right sides facing. Then turn out. The side seams should run along the outside, the inside and just the space above the thumb. Ack, I hope that makes sense!!! Let me know.

I'm wondering if you happen to know the pattern for the purple head wrap? I'd like to attempt to make this for my son for halloween, and I need all the help I can get!
